My family and I are not the fanciest of people. We don’t typically eat fancy foods or go out to the fanciest restaurants very often. But on New Year’s Eve, it is a tradition for us to cook and eat fancy food because it our last meal of the year. On New Year’s Eve, we typically eat steak, crab legs, asparagus, and sautéed mushrooms. We also melt butter to pour over everything on our plate. Not only is this rich in calories but buying all of this food for the whole family is not cheap. But it’s a tradition for us to stuff ourselves for the final dinner of the year. Every year after eating dinner, we usually lay around for an hour to give our bodies a chance to digest the food we had just devoured. I remember my stomach being so full that I could hardly move. However, at the same time, I was always so happy because the food was cooked to perfection. Then we continue the night watching movies and playing board games till just before the clock strikes midnight. Then, we stand outside and count down the final minutes and watch the fireworks from our backyard. After that we resume the games, movies, and the laughter. So, even though I am from a very casual and laid back family, we always feel at our fanciest on New Year’s Eve. After all, why not live a little fancier to end the year on a high note?
