The pros and cons of college food

The hardest part about college when it comes to food is making the adjustment from my parent’s home cooking to sodexo. Before starting college, I was very spoiled by the delicious food that my family made everyday. The first few weeks of college, I thought that sodexo was great and that the food was better than my expectations. But as the weeks have progressed, I have become tired of sodexo food already and I have not even finished my first semester of college yet. The food has become bland and I am left disappointed by the quality of food. While I don’t think that sodexo is a complete washout, some days I find myself yearning for a home cooked meal from my mom or dad.

The best part of college when it comes to food for me is the late night food runs that my friends and I do every now and then. When dinner was not all that good or if we just have a craving for some French fries and ice cream, we load up my car with people on my floor and drive to the whatever place we want. Granted, I did the same thing where I live back home, but it is a little different at college. These late night food runs have been one of the ways that I’ve been building relationships with the people on my floor. We all have so much fun just going out to McDonald’s to get French fries and shakes.
